She Kills Monsters
Tualatin Theatre Department is proud to present Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters. It’s a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games. She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed young playwright Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all! Recommended for mature audiences. Senior, Maddie Hundtoft plays Agnes. “This is my first time taking on a leading role. Taking on this challenge has been fun. It’s nice to leave our department having conquered my biggest challenge....in theatre. I have enjoyed playing Agnes because I see aspects of myself in her. I don’t want to give anything away, but her biggest hurdle is getting over her own self-doubt. It is an important message to portray; I feel a lot of people can relate to this problem.” Theatre director, Jenn Hunter Tindle was inspired to tackle the multifaceted show after seeing a production at the Oregon State Thespians Festival. “The students were a buzz at intermission and asked if we could produce the show as well. Fight choreography, dragons, and the 90’s - it was a no brainer.” Want to see the show for free? Get your best Cosplay gear on.
