DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\nThe Tigard Chamber of Commerce presents the 2022 State of Business\n\nOur community\, businesses and economy are beginning to recover from the pandemic. Businesses face new challenges as we move into recovery and that is the shortage in workforce\, economic uncertainty\, and access to capital. Join us\, Thursday\, January 27 as we present on the labor market trends & forecast\, and what the economy holds for 2022\, and how the pandemic has impacted entrepreneurs & startups. We have three speakers that will be focusing on these three areas.\n\n\n\nGuest Speakers: \n\nEconomic Trends and Forecast - Peter Hulseman\, City Economist \n\nPeter Hulseman is the City Economist for the City of Portland. Peter previously worked at Portland State University's Northwest Economic Research Center\, where held the role of Senior Economist and provided economic policy and macroeconomic analysis\, forecasting\, and demographic modeling for clients from across the Portland metro region. Peter has also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching economics courses at Portland State\, and has served on the Bureau of Development Services Finance Committee for the past four years. Peter received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Portland and his Master of Sciences in Economics from Portland State University. \n\n\n\nLabor Market Trends and Forecasts - Dr. Liza Morehead\, Research & Data Analyst \n\nDr. Liza Morehead is a Research & Data Analyst with Worksystems\, Inc. She has expertise in applied research and public policy analysis in a variety of areas\, including labor market economics\, urban planning\, and public policy analysis. Recent projects include a labor market analysis of the training and occupational development needs resulting from a projected increase in transportation electrification in Oregon\, analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 economic crisis on demographic and socio-economic affinity groups. \n\n\n\nEntrepreneurs/Startups/ Access To Capital\n\nLaura Kubisiak\, Venture Catalyst at TiE Oregon\n\nLaura Kubisiak serves as the Venture Catalyst for Washington County\, aligned with the TiE Oregon Foundation as an "on the ground" resource for helping small businesses start-up and scale. She meets one-on-one with entrepreneurs\, assesses their business needs\, coaches them on various aspects of starting and growing a business\, as well as connects them to people\, programs\, and financial capital to help fuel their advancement. In addition to coaching and advising\, Laura leads programming to educate entrepreneurs and give them an opportunity to network with others. \n\n\n\nNoah Brockman\, SBDC - Noah Brockman leads the Oregon SBDC Network's Capital Access Team (CAT)\, the group that provides strategic business advising to SBDC clients statewide on access to capital\, business planning and financial analysis.
