Hiring in a Tight Labor Market - Panel Discussions
We have partnered with the other Washington County Chambers to bring you a two panel discussion event on hiring during a tight labor market.
The first panel will focus on employer questions and concerns related to incumbent workforce. The discussion will include mandated vaccines, flexible workplace, etc.
The second panel discussion will focus on becoming an employer of choice and standing out from the crowd. You will learn how to differentiate your job opportunities, how to create an efficient recruiting and hiring process, and unique tips and techniques for recruiting talent.

Tom Engel - Principal Consultant - Vantage Point HR
Tom Engel is the Principal Consultant of Vantage Point HR – a Beaverton human resources company with expertise in HR Outsourcing and HR Consulting. He has over 20 years of customer-facing, professional experience, in the areas of IT, human resources and marketing - with companies as diverse as Sage, Intel and Providence Health & Services.
Tom works with a wide range of industries to include automotive, professional services, marketing, IT, healthcare, transportation and non-profits.
He has a Bachelor Degree from Linfield College and an M.B.A. from the University of Portland. He is the proud son of his father, a diesel mechanic and mother, an elementary school secretary in SW Washington, both from whom he learned the value of hard work.
Ashley Hill - CEO - Arnell Recruiting Services
Ashley is the founder and CEO of Arnell Recruiting Services in Hillsboro, Oregon. She’s a creative, strong-minded Black Woman who is a wife, a mom, advocating for social justice and equal opportunities for Black Americans in the workplace. Ashley was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio with both parents and younger sister. She holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, from Texas Southern University, and a Bachelor’s of Arts with a minor in Chemistry and Biological Sciences.
Upon receiving her Master’s in Healthcare Administration she became a Health Planner and Grant Manager for The City of Houston Health and Human Services. Shortly after she was introduced into sourcing and recruiting, which later transitioned her into corporate talent acquisition with Daimler AG.
In 2019 she launched Arnell Recruiting Services a virtual recruiting service specializing in black equity recruiting and selection. She believes in educating her clients on the benefits of recruiting and levering them to their best-fit advantage. She also helps navigate the conversation on race relations as it pertains to career opportunities and barriers for Blacks, in today’s workplace.
Ashley is currently a Founding Member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce Black Business Advisory Council.

Eric S. Postma - Litigation, Transactions, and Employment Attorney - Bittner & Hahs, PC
Eric S. Postma received his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton and attended law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. While in law school, he was the editor-in-chief of the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution. Eric has actively practiced in Oregon since 1999, and is also licensed to practice in California and Washington.
Eric’s experience in business, real estate and civil litigation includes a broad range of cases from breach of contract actions to employment law, personal injury litigation and beyond. He handles all phases of disputes from negotiations to avoid lawsuits to arbitration, mediation and litigation. Eric has successfully argued matters before the California Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. With that experience, Eric focuses his practice on reaching a resolution to each case that best reflects the interests of his client, whether that be a negotiated settlement in the early phases of the dispute or an exhaustion of all appeals after litigation.
Eric also has extensive experience advising businesses in all phases of business operation including business entity formation, employment matters, contract negotiations, sales transactions, and vendor and customer issues. It is Eric’s goal to foster relationships with clients to partner with them in creating and maintaining a successful business or bringing about a reasonable resolution to any dispute.
Eric was raised in Southern California and Houston, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, with whom he has three children. Eric enjoys spending time with his family, cooking outdoors, and other outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and kayaking.
