Women in STEM - #WorkReady

Under the #WorkReady umbrella, the Tigard Tualatin School District (TTSD), Tigard & Tualatin Chambers, and the Portland State University Women in STEM Club will be hosting a Virtual "Women in STEM" event on Wednesday, April 21st, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

This event was first held at Tualatin High School in 2019, and the response from the students was very encouraging. This year's event will include both High Schools, and we are expecting 150-200 girl students. Based on student sign-ups, we would like to have 15 to 20 businesses participate (1 business for every 10 students). Each participating business will have an opportunity to host 5 breakout sessions of 10 students each. In the breakout rooms, each business should share what opportunities and trends are happening in their field, along with showing a fun example of the kind of work they do.
 
If your company is women-led or has women in senior leadership positions, we would love to have you join us. This is a wonderful opportunity to show students how much fun they can have in STEM fields and lay the groundwork for our future workforce.

Platform:  TTSD will host the platform via Google Teams

• Healthcare/Medical-hospital, specialty care, eye, dental, naturopathy, chiropractic, etc.  
• Manufacturing-High Tech
• Manufacturing-Food & Beverage
• Utilities-Gas, Electric, Water, Sewer, etc.
• Trades-electrical, plumbing, welding contracting etc.

11:00  Opening welcome
11:10  PSU Women in STEM Club Panel discussion with Q&A
11:40  Breakout rooms-5 categories (Health Care/Medical, Food & Beverage Manufacturing,           Manufacturing, Utilities, Trades) at 10 minutes each
12:30  $25-$50 gift card Raffle Drawings for student attendees
12:35  Opportunity for participating businesses to share what kind of jobs they offer and the skills needed to fill them
12:55  Closing
1:00  Adjourned
Cost: $50 per business to purchase gift cards for the raffle
